Growing up, Math was an intriguing topic. I became very good at applying mathematical techniques, but always wondered exactly why we apply those techniques. I felt that we lacked the explanations for math techniques and skipped too quickly to the solution. This inspired me to go into the Engineering field, where the reasoning behind the technique is of primary focus. As a student of the University of Houston studying Petroleum Engineering, I feel that this last year as a student is preparing me to enter the world with the ability to rationalize the reasons we use techniques to arrive at solutions.Tutoring allows me to work with students to not only help them discover the techniques to solve problems and improve study skills, but also provides an in-depth answer to their need to understand why we apply specific techniques and processes to problem-solving. As the student better understands why a process exists, they become more interested and engaged in the outcome of the process. Some of the math subjects I'm skilled in tutoring include Algebra, Calculus, General Math, and Trigonometry. I'm also available to tutor in Science, Physics, and SAT Subject Tests. I like to spend my free time working on cars, going to the gym, playing sports, and helping nonprofit charities.
